Today is all about the pictures!! (finally)Even though there's 4+ inches of snow on the ground today, it was actually a little bit warmer than it has been all week, so I went on a little outdoor adventure after getting my oil changed.
Morehead State has it's own lake with a hiking trail around it (which is technically a part of Daniel Boone National Forest), and since I had nothing to do this afternoon, I decided to go on a hike to take some pictures.
This first one is my favorite of all the ones I took today, although it wasn't the first one I took... the one of the lake itself (which is the second picture here) is probably the one that actually came first.
Speaking of the lake, it was completely frozen over, which was pretty crazy. When I got there quite a few people were actually walking on it, which slightly freaked me out, but surprisingly, as far as I know no one fell in! So that's good! I guess it was cold enough.
I definitely was not one of the people who walked on it though... I'm not that brave and I don't like the thought of falling through and freezing to death!
Anyway, the coolest thing about this picture of the lake is that I have another picture of it from a little over a year ago when I went on my official visit in the fall, and they're identical except for the season.
Maybe tomorrow I'll post both of them together because I like how similar but different they are!
I didn't even mind walking out in the woods alone for two hours because it was so pretty.
Luckily I had toe warmers in my car though, or my toes would've frozen... as you can see in the next picture, the snow was kind of deep (especially for Kentucky!)
I honestly can't remember a time when I saw so much snow on the ground.
To get an even better idea of how nice my walk was this afternoon, there's a short video on my google plus profile that you can watch.
If you're going to watch it you should get some earphones and turn the sound up all of the way though... it's a little hard to hear but so much better with sound than without!
Here's the link: Forest Video
They're three of my best friends here, and it was fun/hilarious...
We didn't stay out super long though, it was freezing cold and after probably half an hour of being out there, my legs went numb and it was time to go inside.
Not before I got a couple of funny pictures though, of course.
